hplip

Post by RokenPrice »

Hi all,

I bought Turboprint last year to improve printing on my Canon MG4250. Worked great, until my printer died last week.

I've replaced with an HP OfficeJet Pro 8024e, and got everything working.

Do I have any need for hplip? Scanner is working just fine without, but are there any benefits that it will offer, or is TP enough?

Nice product - I used to use TP on Amiga back in the day.

Hello RokenPrice,

TurboPrint is completely independent from hplip, i.e. you will not need hplip for printing via TurboPrint. As TurboPrint does not support the scanner part of multifunctional devices, hplip might be helpful for scanning. However, as scanners are often also supported by other software like the open-source sane-project (which are already included in many Linux systems), hplip is probably not needed for your printer. Unfortunately we do not have enough experiences with hplip to tell if there are any benefits.
