Pixma Pro 9000 "quality"

Post by heuristik »

I have a question about the print quality setting. The print quality offerings are either 2400 or 9600. The printer specs indicates that
the highest quality is 2400x4800. I assume for the best printing I would use 9600, but things aren't always what they seem. Can anyone answer this?

The PrintFab printer driver for the Canon Pro 9000 specifies the highest resolution as "9600dpi" for glossy/semiglossy media and "4800dpi" for the other media. Internally, the printer works with an addressable resolution of up to 1200x1200dpi - multiplied by a possible number of 4 or 8 ink droplets per raster dot, the result is "4800 x 1200dpi" or "4800 x 2400dpi" (= "9600dpi" with PrintFab).

Thanks, that's helpful. So I guess I just set it for 9600 and leave it at that.
