Print quality

I'm curious as to why the print quality 'jumps' from 360 dpi to 1440dpi. On my previous printer using Gutenprint I used to print photographs at 720dpi with excellent results.

For the XP-65 printer the TurboPrint print quality levels for plain paper are actually "180dpi", "360dpi" and "1440dpi". However, the "1440dpi" mode should have about the print speed of the Gutenprint driver's 720dpi.
