Cannot connect/print with Epson L18050

Post by Tarmac7509 »

Hi, I am pretty new to TurboPrint, so maybe there is something I did wrong, but I can't use my printer with it.

Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS
Kernel: Linux 7.0.0-38-generic
Architecture: x86-64

1) I followed setup, selected TurboPrint Studio version;
2) Added printer, the only connection that worked was IPP(also mentioned in Epson docs as supported) - When I test connection the message says: "Successfully connected to port", but the icon is the same as error: Red circle with white bar
2) I tried printing but I noticed that there is error about daemon not running, so I restarted my PC and that error is gone now.
3) I tried printing test page again, but now I see a warning "Cannot connect to remote daemon" and Spooler Message is "Print job was not accepted"

Ping to the printer is working from my machine.
Printer is in isolated network without internet access.
All ports/network protocols are unlocked to the printer.
Also the printer works with different PC that uses windows.

Is there something that I am missing?

Ok I think I fixed my problem.
1) First I entered the printer UI using printer IP. For example in the browser: https://10.10.10.15
2) Navigate to section Services > Protocol
3) Find IPP Settings

Here I found few things
a) That printer does not allow unsecure connections
b) That printer name is not something normal like "L18050" but "ipp/print"
c) Full IPP urls

I copied full HTTPS protected, IPP url presented here and added it as CUPS config in Turbo print it started working.
For me this URL was:
https://10.10.10.15:631/ipp/print

Hello, usually, TurboPrint Control should list your printer with the network protocol "DNSSD", see this post
https://www.turboprint.info/support/viewtopic.php?p=17169
If this is not the case, we recommend to find out the printer's IP address or network name and set it up manually using the network protocol "LPD" or "Socket 9100 / Jet direct" which is also described in the post above.
You can also use IPP but as you wrote, you have to configure your printer that it accepts "RAW print jobs" via IPP.
