Printfab composer 3.0.3 Bug with custom paper size.

Post by woerdhvd »

Hello just downgraded composer 3003 to the beta version.

Epson 16600
When create a custom paper size the print setting does not apply. the setting are set to the lowest dpi and all the ajustments are ignored.

The beta 3.00 beta9 does not have this problem.

Could you please fix this - paid for a lisence yesterday. I found the old installer in my downloads, otherwise i could print now.

Hello woerdhvd,

thank you for your bug report. Unfortunately I could not recreate this behaviour.
Please specify what custom paper size you created - via PrintFab Toolbox in the "Sizes" dialog or did you select "Custom Size" in Composer and entered the page size dimensions there? You write that the "print settings" are ignored then - but the paper size is correctly applied? Probably you mean that you still can adjust the print settings but they are ignored when printing?

Hello I set the paper size at Lay-out settings. 45 x 32 cm

The settings at print settings ar 1200 dpi and some other settings like Gamut and more magenta.

When print all the settings in Print settings are ignored. I'am not able to print on custom sizes with my settings. It's at the lowest quality

I still cannot reproduce the problem. Please describe:

Did you actually print directly from the PrintFab Composer, i.e.

1. open the PrintFab Composer,
2. select "Media Size"="Custom" and then configure to 32cm or 45cm
3. load an image or PDF document into Composer
4. print
5. the printed page looks as if the settings were ignored

or did you print from an application program, i.e.

1. you created a custom page size in PrintFab Toolbox
2. you used an application like Photoshop or Illustrator to create your document
3. you printed using the "Print" dialog and selected the custom page size
4. PrintFab Composer showed the print preview, you noticed in the Composer window that the settings were incorrect

Please describe your steps as detailed as possible.

Please also send the PrintFab log file archive by email to mail <at> zedonet <dot> de

Start "PrintFab Toolbox" and open the settings menu with the "Wrench" symbol (next to the "About/License" button). In the settings menu press the button "Export logfiles..." to create and save a ZIP archive with the log files. Please attach this file to your email.

I am actually reporting a similar bug with Composer 3.0.4. (Printfab 3.0.4 installer) on an iMac running MacOS Tahoe 26.3. I usually print from Lightroom. In Lightroom, I use a custom paper size of 13 x 19. After entering and saving the print settings, and printing from Lightoom a composer window comes up. (I'm told there should be a check box in the Printab settings to either use/not use Composer. I could not find that checkbox.)

After composer starts up, I can't adjust the image within the frame. I can;t get the image to rotate withuin the frame. The cell size (11.75 x 17.75) from Lightroom seems to be ignored. After trying everything I could think of, I finally have up and downgraded to Printfab Version 2.9. The next thing I will try is to set the Paper Size to A3+ to see if Composer behaves differently. But not having that check box to bypass Composer is also a problem for me.

I assume that if I want to print directly from composer, I would use Lightroom to Print to File and then open that file directly in Composer. It shouldn't make any difference though, should it?

As a note, I hadn't created a 13" x 19" custom page size via the PrintFab Toolbox. I've done that now and I'll retest. I don't know if it should have been necessary. It always just worked in version 2.X
