Setting up Mac Clients to Print with Windows Server

Post by briachu »

Hello,

I'd like to print from Mac clients to a Windows PC where the license is installed.

After much set up, I can print from a Mac to the PC but the Mac say the demo has expired and cannot print without the water mark.

I've searched but I could not find a definite answer on how to solve this; would I need a license for each Mac or are there other settings that I need to change to bybass this. It doesn't look like I can use the same Keyfile for the Mac.

Other notes: Printfab was install on the Windows PC first along with the keyfile license. After confirming it prints and works, I attempted set up the Mac for network printing. I install the Printfab and when the note regarding demo expiring appeared, I've attempted to uninstall to see if it was even needed. Seems like it is needed.

Ultimately, can I print using multiple macs to a windows server under 1 license?

Hello briachu,

you can share a printer on a Windows PC to Macs but by design every Mac needs a printer driver installed, i.e. you need a multi-user license if you want to use PrintFab on several client Macs. The Windows PC does not necessarily need a PrintFab driver as it just receives printer raw data a forwards it to the printer connection.

Hi Zedonet,

Thank you for the reply.

I've already used the keyfile for the PC, can I 'uninstall' it and apply it to one of my macs?

Also, how would I go about to get a multi-user license? Are they cheaper than the individual license I got from an online retailer?

Thanks,

Normal licenses are not transferrable from Windows to Mac as they are different products.
We offer multi-user licenses in our online shop (for 3 and for 5 users), they are significantly cheaper that indivudual licenses. Please send us an email (to mail at zedonet dot de) with your license number and the number of installations/Macs you need, so we can offer a license upgrade (with change from Windows to Mac) to a multi-user license.
