Print dialog settings ignored on Linux

I'm using TurboPrint on OpenSUSE with CUPS. If I print a PDF e.g. from Okular with a page size that differs from the settings in Turbo Print Control, it will always ignore the override and fall back to the settings in the latter. Same seems to apply to some other settings like duplex options. Is this a general constraint or an issue with my installation?
